Fake Wool Hat Complete Uncut Sheet. 8.5"x 11" 2007. Ink, acrylic, letter stamp, inkjet on India Wool paper.
Fake Wool Hat picks up on an aspect of repetition started in the Tovel series of drawings, and continues concepts explored in the Excavation Of Rothko series. In this example, the image is drawn repeatedly, basing the next drawing on the previous drawing, working one line at a time from right to left. They are all the same, but different. The image representation is secondary to the process of redrawing the image, noting changes, and making compensations/corrections in the subsequent drawing. Even though each begins from an indentical template, the images vary, and the object represented in each becomes less or more probable.

Fake Wool Hat is presented with the look of a full perforated stamp sheet, or uncut card sheet. Each individual drawing can be detached to a single 2.5"x 3.5" specimen. Each image is titled and individually numbered. Fake Wool Hat pokes at the 'limited edition' and 'collectible' marketing of art images, but mostly, it is a fascination with the look of full stamp sheets, and the breaking of the individual images from the full sheet.
